How to Achieve Success

I wrote an article before called The Key to Success, and this is taking a slightly different approach to the subject.

Previously I mentioned that success is a matter of upward progress that can only come with hard work. But I think there is a step that is a necessary prerequisite… It is the process of defining exactly what success means to you.

This is probably nothing new to anyone used to setting goals whether they be fitness, business or other. But making a conscious target and heading for it knowing what means success is the best way to actually get there in my experience.

I think it is critical for a few reasons. One has to do with the law of attraction, and making your subconscious work for you. Additionally defining success seems to have the effect of making your desired outcome a priority that is a moment by moment focus of your daily life.

If success means six-pack abs then you will be much less likely to eat crap. If success means meeting a deadline you are less likely to procrastinate doing the grunt work needed to complete the task.

Another one of my recent posts was all about remaining true to your task and dedicated; knowing where you want to be is crucial to keeping this dedication, especially when things get tough… And things ALWAYS get tough. Fulfilling success means breaking through the tough times and it begins with having the destination firmly planted in your mind.

This is actually a fairly common marketing strategy used by some of the world’s top businessmen. They have pre-determined what it means to have success in their venture and have their mind fixated on getting there. Unfortunately many people who use this technique tend to keep it close to the vest because the world of marketing is shrouded in secrecy due to the fact that the most “ambitious” marketers don’t want you to know how they are manipulating you — but that’s another subject.

I actually believe that society as a whole would be well served by everyone taking this idea and putting it into action. Distractions would be fewer and productivity would be greater.
