Training the SMART way

I’m a big believer in working smart AND hard… but the “hard part of training can be done by anyone. It’s far more important to do things the smart or “optimal” way.

It’s not really a difficult thing, it just requires a little forethought…

These are the things I typically think of:

  • What do I want to accomplish (ie. am I training for a specific sport, strength, hypertrophy etc)
  • What are the optimal movements and rep-rance to accomplish this
  • What is an ideal training split to achieve this goal over the long-term
  • Boom, done.

    Personally I typically train for hypertrophy, so that means using a combination of compound and isolation movements in the 8-12 rep range to complete failure.

    A similar model can be used for eating 🙂

    PS – training “smart” does not give you permission to talk like a know-it-all, pompous dickweed.
